JMA College Programme Open Evening & Trials

In year 11 and want to combine education with a full-time football programme?

Here at Reading Women we run a highly successful girls college programme in partnership with the John Madejski Academy, which has seen four players turn professional in the last 5 years, with many more signing for our WSL Development Squad.

The programme is based at the John Madejski Academy, and if you are in Year 11 and are looking to combine full time education (A Levels or BTEC) with an extensive football programme then look no further! If you are not from the Reading area, but are still interested in joining the programme, we will be able to find a host family for you.

Our college side has had great success since its inception, and has won the National schools competition in both the 2015 & 2016 seasons. Currently, 10 of our 18 WSL Development Squad players attend our JMA college programme. Our development squad has also seen great success in recent years, finishing runners up in 2015, and third place in 2016 in the Development League Southern.

The football programme includes:

  • Full time football training 3 times a week, with strength & conditioning sessions built in, plus recovery sessions
  • A game every week (predominantly Wednesdays)
  • UEFA B coaching & UEFA B GK coaching (by coaches heavily involved in our development squad and WSL first team)
  • The opportunity to gain FA coaching qualifications Levels 1 & 2 (free of charge)

Trials for our girls football programme will be held on Wednesday 22nd of November, 5:30PM-7:30PM, at the John Madejski Academy (RG2 8AF). To find out more about the academic side of our programme, the sixth form open evening is the following day, Thursday 23rd of November, 6PM-8PM.

To gain access to the programme girls must be accepted by both the club (through this trial) and by the John Madejski Academy sixth form college (by meeting GCSE requirements).

Location of programme: The John Madejski Academy, 125 Hartland Road, RG2 8AF.

  • Fran Kirby (currently signed for Chelsea Ladies)
  • Grace Moloney (signed with our first team)
  • Ellie Wilson (currently signed to Bristol City)
  • Charlie Estcourt (signed with our first team, currently on loan to Bristol City)
