The Royals resume their 2018/19 WSL campaign after the holiday break with a trip to rivals Birmingham City Women this coming Sunday. Meetings between the sides are invariably tight affairs; last season both WSL1 meetings ended as draws and at the end of the season Reading finished in 4th place, one position higher and with two points more than Marc Skinner’s side. City though have won on their last two visits to Adams Park – 1-0 in the FA Cup last season and by the same score line in the WSL last September. The Royals are thus due a victory!

At the moment Birmingham are 4th in the WSL, one place above Reading with four more points. They have lost just once in the WSL at Solihull this season, Manchester City winning 3-2 there in September. Recent player news is that German keeper Ann-Katrin Berger has departed the club after keeping nine clean sheets in league and cup games this season. Former Reading favourite Emma Follis has been in good form contributing three goals to date.
